Back on Wednesday, October 26, the forecast was for a rainy evening, the Cardinals were down to the Rangers 3-2, Steve was very sick with a cold and I found myself coming down with something myself! I was at work that day and just could not take it, so I headed home sick.
The first thing I did when I got home was take my temperature. The next thing I did was take a pregnancy test! When I saw the results I really couldn't believe it!
Since Steve was sick himself, he decided to take a half day himself and head home. He said he was going to stop at Walgreens to get some Nyquil, so I asked him if he might pick up a pregnancy test! I just couldn't believe the one I had already taken, and I wanted a subtle way of telling him what I thought was going on.
He came home and I took another one.
We were both so excited! But since we were both still not feeling so great we decided to take a nap after a little lunch. The rest of the day is a blur. I remember we did go pick up "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and started reading it that night! It was a rollercoaster of a day from feeling sick to finding out such amazing news! Of course that night the game got delayed pushing back Game 7 to Friday night (if we made it through Game 6, but you all know what happened that night!!)
2 more tests in the next couple days, and we were finally starting to really believe it!
Later that week, as everyone already knows, the Cardinals won the World Series in Game 7 versus the Texas Rangers on Friday night. I was at the game with my mom, dad and Aunt Erin. Steve was outside the stadium with some friends trying to watch the game (the crowds were so bad they couldn't even see the TVs at the bars). Once the game ended they let fans into the stadium, so Steve came right on down to our section. He joined us while we watched the celebration and ceremonies. It was unbelievable! Then, about an hour later after everything died down and we were about to leave the stadium, we told Mom, Dad and Aunt Erin that we had something to tell them to add to this amazing night! They knew before we even said what it was! They were all very excited and over joyed with the news. It was the perfect memory!
The next day we stopped by Kelly & Clark's and after about over an hour of waiting for just the right moment to tell them (could never get them both in the same room at the right moment and I was just so nervous telling people back then), we broke our news! They were not too surprised as they noticed I was not drinking when we went out with our cousins a couple weeks back. Both were very excited for Steve and I and for their furture niece or nephew. Kelly was also excited to get to use her lady bug cutter on hopefully some baby shower invitations :)
Then that night Steve's Mom, Dad and David were flying back from a 2 week trip to Taiwan. We picked them up at the airport and headed back to David's. After waiting for them to talk about the trip and give out all of their souvenirs Steve told them that we had some news. Mom & Dad again knew before we could even say it, or her exact words were "Is it what I hope it is?"!! They were very excited to hear that their very first grand child was on it's way! It was perfect timing that they happened to be in town that weekend and we could tell them right away and in person!
To top off the weekend, I lost my voice on Sunday and missed the World Series parade. Steve was starting to recover from being sick, but was still down a bit. It had been an insane past 5 days. Something we will never forget.
I've created this blog to attempt to document the next 6 months of my pregnancy. I am not 100% sure I will be fully dedicated, but I will try. I have named it "Baking Baby Chung" since my other blog is "Kara Bakes". Thought it would be cute!
